Product Details

This is a wonderful necklace pendant made by Quebec jeweller Bernard Chaudron.  It is made of bronze with a piece of embedded red resin enamel and is cast in a geometric square shape with interior circles.  The enamel is quite interesting as it glows bright green under ultraviolet light - great in clubs during the 60s, when black lights where often used to create atmosphere.  It is unsigned, but well documented as by Chaudron.  Chaudron’s work is rather rare as he produced jewelry only early in his career, then moving on to other types of work.  The pendant measures 2” wide by 2 5/8” in height, including its loop.  The pendant is in very good condition with no notable wear - a few tarnish spots (see last close-up photo) that I haven’t tried to polish, but would definitively clean up.  Chaudron was born in France, but set up his workshop first in Montreal, then in Val-David, Quebec.  He was active during the 1960s into the 1970s.

This is a quality piece - Canadian modernist jewelry of the 60s and 70s is becoming more and more collectible!
